Friends of Pam and David

To all of you that followed this event, here is the update...

Comments from Carol Brightman Johnson, posted on her blog:

"
Thank you to all the artists and collectors who made the Friends of Pam and David a great success. Your generosity and good wishes did a lot! The show raised approximately $4,000. We don't have a final accounting yet, but that was pretty amazing, especially on short notice.

There were over 120 works of art at the Vanilla Bean, after the early bird sale, where the walls normally display from 30 to 50 pieces. What a testament to how well-liked and respected Pam and David are. The sheer number of artists who cared enough to donate something moved them deeply. Pam and David were surprised to find that so many of us think about them, and will continue to keep them in our minds and prayers. In some ways, the moral support is more important than money."

Interactive Acrylics Workshop

About a week ago, the CT Society of Portrait Artists organized a workshop at the Darien Arts Center. For this, the fine artist Joan Polzin, representing The Chroma paint company supplied interactive acrylic paints for us to try, or I should say, "to play with", because we had so much fun trying this new acrylics...here the pictures taken by Jeanine C. Jackson:

Joan Polzin
These new acrylics are just amazing! They remain open for a longer time than regular acrylcs and can be kept workable by re wetting of dried paints. Joan Polzin, who has painted portraits with these paints in the past showed us the products and demonstrated how to use them. After her demonstration we all tried our hands on the product and loved it!

So here are two pictures showing the progress during the workshop of my little painting, even though is not yet finished. But I thought you might wanted to see what I did that day with these new interactive acrylics:

I know what you're thinking! Everyone working on portraits and I made a frog...well, this is my portrait of a frog!!! I hope you enjoy it!
The pictures of my painting were taken by Joan Polzin

The good thing about this acrylics is that you can save the left over paint in the refrigerator, so I did. About a week later, this past Friday, I made a little 6" x 8" Winter Scene on canvas using them. They were like new...perfect!

I donated this painting to be sold for $100.00 to raise money to help my friends and artists, Pam and Dave Lussier. Pam has a very difficult form of cancer and is currently going through chemotherapy to get herself healthy enough to receive a kidney transplant and their insurance does not cover all the expenses...

Here is the information about this fundraiser:

updating....finally!!!

hi there!

It's been a while since I last posted something in here, so today I decided to put it up to date. Here is a summary..

After my last post I was very busy getting ready to participate in Open Studios in New Haven...this happened the first weekend in October. Sorry I couldn't tell you before... It went well. I met many interesting people
and wonderful artists, one of them is Sikiu Perez (check her blog at sikiu-perez.blogspot.com). She happened to be right next to me, along with other three artists, one photographer and two incredible painters. In the whole building we were 15 artists in total. Overall it was a great experience and best of all we've got to enjoy this fabulous view for the whole weekend:

Just, breath taking!!!

In conjunction with Open Studios, Artspace, which is the gallery that organizes the event, had a juried process for the exhibition that has been at their location ever since the Kick-off of Open Studios and will be on display until December the 13th and it's called "CONNcentric". I'm telling you this because my sculpture "Tucky" was accepted there!! Here is a pic...

isn't he cute?!

The week after Open Studios I took course 3 of the Gardening Study School sponsored by the Federated Garden Clubs of CT. It's a three day course and ends up with an exam... I haven't told you this but I love to garden that's why I take this kind of courses. And as you can see my love for nature is represented in many of my works.

To end up the three weeks of strenuous work
, between my art work, my plants and of course, my three children I ended up sick!!! oh yes, the allergy season!!! and this season has been the worst!! Don't you think?

It's too late now and I think I better go to sleep. I'll continue tomorrow, after I deliver some artwork to a gallery in Hartford...let you know later...bye!
