I also continue to exhibit my work. You can learn all about it in my <a href="http://justcorina.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">website</a> and in both my Instagram accounts <a href="https://www.instagram.com/justcorina_studio/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/corinadotdash/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>. In the school I am in now since 2017, I am the Director of Galleries as well. For which I not only get to maintain the students' galleries, but also bring artists guests to showcase their artworks in the other three beautiful galleries we have. I will write about some of the exhibitions I have curated in future posts too.</p><p>In my current job I teach Studio Art Foundation to middle school students, as well as Drawing, Painting, Studio Art, and 3D Design classes to Upper School students. Time really flies when you're having fun!!<br />
<br />
I started my third week experimenting with Walnut Ink and collage, as ways to add more warmth and texture to the expressive drawings I've been doing since I got here, and I like the results. I feel that by adding the brown undertones I have created more depth in my paintings. Fascinating!<br />
<br />
Take a look at painting #5 with the walnut ink undertone...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lIY5TLcBn9A/VRRpn3FLCCI/AAAAAAAAJt4/iiRgx3JXb9A/s1600/IMG_9764.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lIY5TLcBn9A/VRRpn3FLCCI/AAAAAAAAJt4/iiRgx3JXb9A/s1600/IMG_9764.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span id="goog_964928999"></span><span id="goog_964929000"></span><br />
Here's my studio wall after painting #5<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wj1XG1BnHMk/VRRpk5ASbpI/AAAAAAAAJtg/ey63vfqWvG0/s1600/IMG_9733.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wj1XG1BnHMk/VRRpk5ASbpI/AAAAAAAAJtg/ey63vfqWvG0/s1600/IMG_9733.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And my painting #6 using collage as background, and walnut ink as an undertone...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zCuEKTTpuzk/VRRqjUIeKsI/AAAAAAAAJuE/m0B9TybbkXo/s1600/IMG_9765.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zCuEKTTpuzk/VRRqjUIeKsI/AAAAAAAAJuE/m0B9TybbkXo/s1600/IMG_9765.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
I really like the texture in this one.<br />
<br />
And this is how my wall looks now after painting #6<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kmA29Eqo9_o/VRRrCCBnZ1I/AAAAAAAAJuU/aNyxXBX_Bc0/s1600/IMG_9735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kmA29Eqo9_o/VRRrCCBnZ1I/AAAAAAAAJuU/aNyxXBX_Bc0/s1600/IMG_9735.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I've been also working on a relief that I'm sculpting out of paper clay, placing it on a round panel covered with silk. I'm also playing with the idea of covering the relief image with more of the same silk, that had been previously treated with an Eco-dyeing, to get those old, weathered looking shades of brown, which I very much love.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1zI-cHfrmYQ/VRRpmgBBh2I/AAAAAAAAJtw/EiXrJpyTJo0/s1600/IMG_9756.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1zI-cHfrmYQ/VRRpmgBBh2I/AAAAAAAAJtw/EiXrJpyTJo0/s1600/IMG_9756.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It's not a finished piece yet, still working on sculpting the figure to look the way I envision.<br />
<br />
I also did some more postcards using the same techniques I've used the weeks before; inspired by the colors here at the Vermont Studio Center. I now almost ready to send them out to those who have donated $10 to my crowdfunding campaign. I just need to finish writing them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uSQ8O2TaAHI/VRRr5ir1_vI/AAAAAAAAJuo/3E9uAIJjahc/s1600/IMG_9689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uSQ8O2TaAHI/VRRr5ir1_vI/AAAAAAAAJuo/3E9uAIJjahc/s1600/IMG_9689.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I started walking around more to see my surroundings. It had been so cold before that it was hard for me to wonder around until this last week.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My studio windows at VSC</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I discovered a nice area behind our sculpture building overlooking the frozen river, that I'm sure gets lots of use in the summer time...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9bnvcdMCLvo/VRRr_o5B9QI/AAAAAAAAJvY/nyTeSC1gNTw/s1600/IMG_9719.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9bnvcdMCLvo/VRRr_o5B9QI/AAAAAAAAJvY/nyTeSC1gNTw/s1600/IMG_9719.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cUJtvv0MKts/VRRr4xBuugI/AAAAAAAAJug/x5BeYkyQPf8/s1600/IMG_9697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cUJtvv0MKts/VRRr4xBuugI/AAAAAAAAJug/x5BeYkyQPf8/s1600/IMG_9697.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I also walked to the Meditation house, even though I have never made it to any of the meditations that happen there early every morning. I tend to work until late, less distractions in the evening, and this makes it harder for me to wake up before 7am. Here are some images of the meditation house; a very peaceful place...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9xBCyMybmrc/VRRtr_ruGmI/AAAAAAAAJv8/OD_Id5u0ugs/s1600/IMG_9714.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9xBCyMybmrc/VRRtr_ruGmI/AAAAAAAAJv8/OD_Id5u0ugs/s1600/IMG_9714.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eBFD9uMaWHY/VRRtra5RFJI/AAAAAAAAJv0/Z3mC_gm_aU8/s1600/IMG_9717.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eBFD9uMaWHY/VRRtra5RFJI/AAAAAAAAJv0/Z3mC_gm_aU8/s1600/IMG_9717.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><br /><br /><br />
And finished the week with my wall ready for painting #7<br />

If you are enjoying my updates, and would like to support me on my
crowdfunding campaign to help me cover the costs of this residency,
please go to: <a href="http://igg.me/at/corina">http://igg.me/at/corina</a>.<br />
<br />
Here's 3 ways you can help to make it happen. You can choose to do one,
two, or
all tree:<br />
<br />
1. The obvious one,
making a monetary donation of $1 or more, but there are two more ways to
help that you're not probably aware of.<br />
<br />
2. If you click on the
link below to my Indiegogo page, you can click to any of the Social
Media share buttons on the top of my campaign, and by doing that you give more exposure to my page, so others can see it too.<br />
<br />
3. You can also help, by leaving a comment on that page. This will also bring my page up so more people can see it. Click
on COMMENTS right above my video, right after you sign into Indiegogo.<br />
<br />
Thank you in advance for your help and support!!<br />

I think it was because it happened to have fallen on Valentine's Day and it made me realized how much I missed my love ones. This is why I'm a few days late to writing this post... I survived!!<br />

I got the chance to do a lot of thinking over the weekend and I'm currently working on new ideas that I'll tell you about on my next post... and I finally came around to write my Newsletter again, after over two months of being absent!! You can read it by clicking <b><a href="http://us8.campaign-archive1.com/?u=69247ef06b8a1108c5b9a97e7&id=ef950e4559" target="_blank">HERE</a></b>! <br />
<br />
Meanwhile here's my second week... it was very busy one...<br />
<br />
I continued working on my sculpture, and hand built the first figure on the ball I had made earlier:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7ulJfJGuzdo/VOQNQEgViCI/AAAAAAAAJkM/cuO3UXBb1fU/s1600/IMG_9500.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7ulJfJGuzdo/VOQNQEgViCI/AAAAAAAAJkM/cuO3UXBb1fU/s1600/IMG_9500.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aTeqUybK_yg/VOQNNFKjc6I/AAAAAAAAJkE/IIx7QLDlugg/s1600/IMG_9498.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aTeqUybK_yg/VOQNNFKjc6I/AAAAAAAAJkE/IIx7QLDlugg/s1600/IMG_9498.JPG" height="200" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
With the left over plaster cloth I made two Artist Books, as samplers for the upcoming workshops I'll be teaching in June. [June 3-4 at the <a href="http://www.castlehill.org/post-conference.html" target="_blank">Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill</a> in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and June 13-14 at <a href="http://www.creativeartsworkshop.org/html/classes/workshops.html" target="_blank">Creative Arts Workshop</a> in New Haven, Connecticut]<br />

During one of our many snow storms we have gotten so far, I practiced with a tool for encaustic that I had bought at last year's <a href="http://encausticconference.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">International Encaustic Conference</a> and haven't been able to try it out until now. It's called the "<a href="http://www.fineartstore.com/p-1827-encaustic-flow-pen.aspx" target="_blank">Enkaustikos Flow Pen</a>". I used it to draw on the postcards I had done the week before, and that I will send out to those who have donated $10 to my crowdfunding campaign. Here's the result:<br />
<br />

But not all was cloudy days and snow... I had the chance to watch a beautiful sunset after all!<br />

Last week, we were also visited by two visual arts professionals, and they were both named William. One, <a href="http://www.williamlamson.com/" target="_blank">Will Lamson</a>, an installation/performance artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. The other <a href="http://williamvillalongo.com/home.html" target="_blank">Will Villalongo</a>, who's currently a painting and drawing professor at Yale University in New Haven, CT. Each gave us a talk and slide show about their work, and then they visited each of our studios at VSC for a half an hour one-on-one critique. It's such a great opportunity to have professionals look at your work, and talk to you about it, opening up your mind to keep developing as an artist.<br />
<br />
And the cherry on the top was our first Open Studios here at VSC. We got to see the studios of fellow residents and see what they have been working on thus far. Here's how my studio looked for Open Studios:<br />

I've been able to work loosely on large pieces of paper, which I never get to do at my regular studio since I don't have the space for it. It is, after all, a messy approach, but so rewarding!<br />
<br />

On Saturday, I took a break from painting to start working on a new
approach to make my round sculptures, instead of using clay, and so far
is working well. I needed to make the base of the sculpture so it's dry
by the time I start making what's going to go on top of it. Hence, the
importance to get it started. Can't wait to see the outcome! <br />

AlvarezdelugoI've been honored with the opportunity of being featured in the Spotlight of the Arts, a segment on the TV Magazine, All Things Connecticut, hosted by the Connecticut Public Television (CPTV). For this, I was interviewed by Ed Wierzbicki, an Emmy Award-winning producer and arts writer, who's an arts & culture producer for Connecticut Public Television and WNPR.<br />

Last October of 2014, Ed Wierzbicki wrote a wonderful article on me and my work for WNPR (you can read it by clicking <a href="http://wnpr.org/post/mending-country-and-taking-stand-through-art" target="_blank"><b>HERE</b></a>). Just last night, my interview came up on the air. Please, click <b><a href="http://youtu.be/2Y8N31spX6g" target="_blank">HERE</a></b> to view it. <br />

For this, she sent me a questionnaire. So, I did a lot of writing in between Wednesday and Thursday to get in just in time for her publication deadline of TODAY! <br />
Once again, I took a break to clear all the snow that had fallen the day
before on my car before it gets frozen. I also filled the tank with gas (I didn't know we have to keep the gas tank full when temperatures are this low, to avoid condensation - live and learn!)<br />
<br />
But I also managed to finish a third painting in my series. All of them measure about 4' x 4' <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I started my painting making marks with my <br />
hand-made brush and Sumi Ink</td></tr>

<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Added more marks and writing with charcoal and graphite</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here's the end result</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
My studio wall, after this third painting...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ozCBCtUiHR4/VNTvSOeGbjI/AAAAAAAAJf0/kTcLoBVH4EI/s1600/IMG_9331.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ozCBCtUiHR4/VNTvSOeGbjI/AAAAAAAAJf0/kTcLoBVH4EI/s1600/IMG_9331.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And now it's ready for number 4!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ey-l1_P2La4/VNTvV418wSI/AAAAAAAAJgM/tJsshGqkreE/s1600/IMG_9334.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ey-l1_P2La4/VNTvV418wSI/AAAAAAAAJgM/tJsshGqkreE/s1600/IMG_9334.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Since I didn't have enough time to start the new painting (the process requires a wet stage in between layers), I started doing some Encaustic monotypes inspired by the colors in my surroundings. The red for the barn and studios, the white for the snow, and the blue of the sky...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rYp4b-gL3BM/VNTvXQMtL6I/AAAAAAAAJgU/dBt8NUZ0uxc/s1600/IMG_9337.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rYp4b-gL3BM/VNTvXQMtL6I/AAAAAAAAJgU/dBt8NUZ0uxc/s1600/IMG_9337.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />

here's 3 ways you can help to make it happen. You can choose to do one,
two, or

1. The obvious one,
making a monetary donation of $1 or more, but there are two more ways to

I started with a series of expressive drawing exercises to see where they will lead me, here the results:<br />
<br />
My first attempt was rather timid. I used acrylics, charcoal, and graphite on paper. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ifekalJ0LTQ/VNKZ6qkeCuI/AAAAAAAAJdQ/M8phLMNlD10/s1600/IMG_9260.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ifekalJ0LTQ/VNKZ6qkeCuI/AAAAAAAAJdQ/M8phLMNlD10/s1600/IMG_9260.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">From this...</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kp831vBT814/VNKZ7P6HraI/AAAAAAAAJdU/skaLG-EBijI/s1600/IMG_9264.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kp831vBT814/VNKZ7P6HraI/AAAAAAAAJdU/skaLG-EBijI/s1600/IMG_9264.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">...to this.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I love how the wall looked as I took the first painting off the wall:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mkI29AYimF0/VNKZ8hZV5kI/AAAAAAAAJdg/TDjZMl3TU5M/s1600/IMG_9275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mkI29AYimF0/VNKZ8hZV5kI/AAAAAAAAJdg/TDjZMl3TU5M/s1600/IMG_9275.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I took a small break to clear all the snow that had fallen the day before on my car before it gets frozen, and to move the car to a different location so they can plow the parking lot.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TX6Sj6RVSTY/VNKgkFZoaoI/AAAAAAAAJfQ/uOz9f21bY8Y/s1600/IMG_9253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TX6Sj6RVSTY/VNKgkFZoaoI/AAAAAAAAJfQ/uOz9f21bY8Y/s1600/IMG_9253.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Can you find my car?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I guess my color palette was influenced by the landscape colors around me!!<br />
<br />
Second piece of paper goes on the wall...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d84CyGwV3Tw/VNKZ_4UaVmI/AAAAAAAAJdw/PYhGCSdCyM4/s1600/IMG_9276.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d84CyGwV3Tw/VNKZ_4UaVmI/AAAAAAAAJdw/PYhGCSdCyM4/s1600/IMG_9276.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
My second attempt was a bit more bold. I used my newly made brush and
Sumi Ink, besides of what I used in the first one. Here it is...<br />
<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e_D9a8Wvq0Q/VNKZ_LhJsLI/AAAAAAAAJdo/dl24DJmuXGs/s1600/IMG_9277.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e_D9a8Wvq0Q/VNKZ_LhJsLI/AAAAAAAAJdo/dl24DJmuXGs/s1600/IMG_9277.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hand-made brush using my own hair</td></tr>

But in keeping with trying to keep you all updated during my Artist-in-Residency at the Vermont Studio Center, here it is:<br />
<br />
Monday, we woke up snowing and it snowed all day... Looks so beautiful!<br />

Today was not a productive way per-se, as I had to attend a talk in the
morning, sign a contract to pay the rest of my tuition in installments, and file my
sales taxes. But I managed to set up the studio, construct a super brush
with my hair (no, I didn't cut my hair again, I did it with the hair I
have saved from last time, when I cut my hair very short) and it's
all ready for tomorrow's creative and "expressive" day. Take a look:<br />

Remember, I still need your help to cover the costs of my residency.
So, if you like what I'm doing and would like to support an artist,
here's 3 ways you can help to make it happen. You can choose to do one,
two, or
all tree:<br />
<br />
1. The obvious one,
making a monetary donation of $1 or more, but there are two more ways to
help that you're not probably aware of.<br />
<br />
2. If you click on the
link and go to my Indiegogo page, you can click to any of the Social
Media share buttons on the top of my campaign.<br />
<br />
3. You can also help big time, by leaving a comment on that page. Click
on COMMENTS right above my video, right after you sign into Indiegogo.<br />

<br />
I arrived yesterday in the afternoon, to the Vermont Studio Center for a month-long Artist-in Residency. After checking-in, I was guided to my assigned studio and dormitory.<br />
<br />
I got a nice little first floor apartment, that I get to share with another artist. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a sitting/dinning area. More that we would ever need here, just great!!<br />
<br />
My studio is on the Sculptors building and I have already met most of the artists in it. Here's a little clip I filmed yesterday, after I started unpacking my art materials and equipment, so you can get an idea of the space where I'll be working this month... <br />

<br />
I've been away since November of last year; the holidays, travel to meet my new niece and nephew, and unexpected but wonderful news to start the New Year kept me very busy. But now I'm back, and I'm making it a resolution to write more often again.<br />
<br />
One of those good news I received at the beginning of the year, was an invitation to attend the Artist-in-Residency program at the
prestigious Vermont Studio Center next month. One of the largest
international artist’s residencies in the United States.<br />
<br />
The Studio Center comprise of 50 resident artists and
writers that I will be a part of. Established visiting artists and writers will
come during my stay there and speak about their work in slideshows in the
evening, they will also visit the resident artists’ studios to offer critical
feedback on their work.<br />
<br />
It is an amazing opportunity to be able to spend a month-long time-away for research, reflection, and production, that will for sure benefit my professional artist career. An intensive month to explore new ideas in my
artistic practice and to create a new body of work surrounded by a creative and
supportive atmosphere. But I need your help in making this opportunity a reality.<br />
<br />
For this, I've been
working for the past two weeks in building up a crowdfunding campaign in
Indiegogo to help me raise the funds I need to take advantage of this
opportunity.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
Please, click <b><a href="https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/artist-in-residency-at-the-vermont-studio-center/x/9630420" target="_blank">HERE</a></b>, read my story, and
watch my very short video. Your contribution will be much appreciated,
whether monetary or by sharing this campaign with your contacts, or by
doing both. Any help you can give me will go a long way to make this
dream of mine a reality.<br />

<br />
Thank you!!<br />
<br />
NOTE: You may also click the shortcut on the right side bar next to this post. BTW, the image of the Vermont Studio Center's snowy barn was taken from the Internet as reference. Soon, I'll post my own images from there, Stay tuned to my upcoming posts!!<br />

Learn
all you need to know to create art using one of the most versatile
mediums available for artists today, offering many exciting and
creative possibilities! After a brief history, and review of safety
practices, students will start a series of hand-on projects, on an
on-going basis. Along the course I'll introduce you to contemporary
artists who currently use this versatile medium to open up discussions
and expand your creativity. We will work with encaustic techniques
including brushing, pouring, dipping, incising, stencil, collage, image
transfer, encaustic monotype and more. </div>
<br />
This class is perfect for the artist who wants to <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">adapt particular encaustic technique(s) to expand your unique visual language </span></span>while working on a new body of work or series, as you'll be able to work on your own with guided instruction as needed.<br />
<br />
All encaustic paint, medium, tools and collage material will be provided, but you're welcome to
bring your own "toner" photocopies, dried organic materials, special papers, drawings, stamps, stencils, other media, as well as
found objects that you may want to incorporate into your works. You may also bring bisque-fired, unglazed clay pieces.<br />

In this two day workshop students will learn the process of using,
altering, and re-purposing the elements of a book. Students will create their
own book pages using plaster, papers, and natural materials. The process will
also focus on incorporating the medium of Encaustic to make the pages stronger
and give them a beautiful sheen, shape, and dimensionality. We will create two
book structures –an accordion book and a book made of plaster pages. Both will
explore different mixed media and encaustic techniques. </span><br />

The Artist Book is a work of art within the traditional
confines of a book. It allows the artist the freedom to transform it and give it
a new voice. Not only serving as texture, the text serves as inspiration for
the artwork itself. The written words and visual images, original to the book,
intertwine with the artist’s inner thoughts to create his/her one of a kind
narrative.</span><br />

while the wax heats up, and continue by painting your prep substrates,
experiencing the different ways that wax can enhance its surface</span><span style="font-weight: normal;">.

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Happy New Year to all my readers! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">As you are use to already, I like to start the new year by writing an overview of the year that just ended, so here’s my 2012 overview. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">The <b><a href="http://dbtawareness.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">non-for-profit blog</a></b> and the <b><a href="http://dbtawareness.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Awareness Facebook page</a></b> I started in 2011, to <b>raise Awareness on Dense Breast Tissue and the current screening methods that cannot detect cancer well on this type of tissue </b>is growing strong. Please, visit the links above, read about this issue, learn about it and be proactive! I also invite you to share your stories, and unite forces with me to build our case strong, to get the attention we need for better technology to screen cancer on Dense Breast Tissue.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Continuing with my continuous education and career advancement, I became an entrepreneur, by opening the doors of my studio/gallery to also teach <b><a href="http://corinadotdash.blogspot.com/p/youth-art-classes.html" target="_blank">children</a></b> and <b><a href="http://corinadotdash.blogspot.com/p/adult-art-classes.html" target="_blank">adults</a></b>, as well as to bring artists/instructors from all over the country to share their knowledge and talents with our local community and beyond. This new endeavor has kept me very busy all year long, and we got students as far as Canada visiting the studio to take workshops, how exciting is that!!!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>GUEST ARTISTS at my studio</b>:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">*In April I invited, San Antonio, Texas artist/instructor/author, <a href="http://michellebelto.com/" target="_blank">Michelle Belto</a> to come to my studio to teach her signature <b>WAX + PAPER</b> workshop, at the same time that she was working on having her first book printed. So it was very exciting to hear all about it when she came visiting!! To learn more about her new book with links and more, just click <a href="http://michellebelto.com/blog/53646/stepping-into-the-information-revolution-books-and-magazines" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">*In October, I had the pleasure of hosting Philly's artist/instructor, <a href="http://www.lorraineglessner.net/Artist.asp?ArtistID=10324&Akey=A2QTAD5R" target="_blank">Lorraine Glessner</a>. Her workshop on

<span style="font-family: inherit;">I celebrated the Annual opening of my studio, the weekend before
Thanksgiving. The opening was a great success, good friends and new ones
came along, several
of my artworks were sold, along with prints,
<span style="font-size: small;">and </span>cards... and 10% of the sales was donated to the Red Cross, Hurricane Sandy Relief.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Thank you everyone who stopped by and to those that couldn't come
but sent their good wishes, you all made this opening perfect!!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I have started conversations with Albertus Magus
College to offer internships for their Art and Management students at my
studio, for which I'm so looking forward to. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Closing for now,
one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to be more constant with my writing
here. So, I will be making an effort to write at least once a month to
keep you all updated with my work process, invite you to my exhibitions, and share with my readers my experiences in the arts world. So stay
tune, and remind me if I get behind…</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Wishing
you all a new year filled with blessings of good health, love, and a
steady job, with peace, happiness and… lots of creativity!!!</span><br />
